To calculate child support arrears, start with each missed payment and add 6% simple interest per year from the date that payment became delinquent (Tex. Fam. Code § 157.265), and keep it running until the balance is paid in full. This arrears calculator gives a quick estimate — because Texas interest is simple, not compounding, the math is predictable, but the totals still surprise most parents.
An exact figure comes from the State Disbursement Unit ledger, applied payment by payment. We do that calculation as part of every collection case.
